Overview

  • Provide technical support for existing automation control systems as well as assist with designing, estimating, and commissioning new automation control systems integrated with Robots based on PLC’s.
  • Provides technical application support during new installations and equipment breakdowns.
  • Prepare technical documentation such as operating and training manuals.
  • Troubleshoot machine breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize loss of production.
  • Assists in equipment malfunction investigation to increase equipment reliability by identifying root cause, determining corrective actions/preventative measures, and following up on any deviations, and customer complaints.
  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance programs for required equipment.
  • Participate in Lean / 5S / Continuous Improvement initiatives and quality improvements.
  • Ensure work is performed in a manner that minimizes downtime.
  • Periodically perform PLC and programing backup.
  • Maintain updated and controlled PLC program data base.


Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Electrician License (442A or 309A)
  • Effective communication skills are required with the ability to work as part of a team or independently with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Proven ability to design and interpret electrical / electronic schematic diagrams, blueprints, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
  • Understanding of machine safety (Safety Relays and Safety PLC’s)
  • Broad knowledge of process automation and conveyance
  • Ability to evaluate condition of new and damaged mechanical equipment and make recommendations for repair or replacement.
  • Familiarity with Interfacing PLC with industrial robotics (Primarily ABB)
  • Familiarity with networks, specifically Ethernet, DeviceNet, DH+, Asi, Modbus +.
  • Solid understanding of PLC and HMI programming (Primarily RSLogix5, 500, 5000, Modicon Unity, FTView, Schneider Vijeo)
  • Solid understanding of VFD and Servo programming (Primarily PowerFlex, Altivar, Kinetix Fanuc and Yaskawa)
